Looking at and Seeing- Alfred Stieglitz

In this photo I see a lot of people just walking around, most of them are with someone else, it's snowing and there are neat buildings around them. I think the purpose in this photo is showing the beauty of this town and he's capturing motion because everyone is doing something. I think he wanted to capture this moment in particular because it shows the beauty of the outdoors and this town even though some people don't stop to look. The emphasis in this photo is the buildings because that's the big thing that catches your eye. I think that lack of color in this photo doesn't show what is actually happening. Without color I feel like this photo is kind of depressing and sad. If it had color in the photo I think it would be more cheerful and happy looking. I would prefer it in color because the way it looks now is sad. The mood given off by this photograph is sad because most people have their heads down and it's not in color. I've noticed that nobody in the photo is really smiling and they have their heads down, but it does hold my attention because it's interesting to see this and the old buildings. I chose this photo because when I first looked at it the buildings really popped out and I love the look of old buildings. Also, even though it's not in color I really like the way the trees in the background look.
